The wooden Fishhouse building was built around 1880 by the grandfather
of James L Houghton who’s name was James Houghton. The loft
of the building was used to store supplies and provided space
to build small row boats. The uncles of James L Houghton, Leonard
Houghton and Robert Houghton acquired the property from James
Houghton. In 1947, James L Houghton purchased the property for
$ 215.00 from his uncles. Fred Houghton acquired the property
in 1996 and did extensive renovations to the building. The building,
since 1997, has been used as a community museum during the summer
which the Hall’s Harbour Historical Society sponsor.
