The Hall’s Harbour Historical Society was formed in 1997. For the purposes of the Society, the following boundaries are used to refer to Hall’s Harbour:

Along the North Shore of the Municipality of the County of Kings bounded on the North by the Bay of Fundy, on the Westby Chipman Brook, on the South by Ross Corner and Centreville and on the East by the Sheffield Vault, including the Community of Hall’s Harbour.

The objectives of the Society are to preserve artifacts, information, photographs and any other items relating to the people and their life in Hall’s Harbour. The Society has opened and operated the Red Fish House Museum in the summer months each year.

In co-operation with the Fire Department, the Society was able to use the Katimavik Program in 1998 to do work on the East Hall’s Harbour School, and now it is used as a small School House Museum and also used to store artifacts and records of the Society. Other Community organizations store their records here also.

A Community Access Program C@P a federal and provincial funded program has been opened in the schoolhouse to give the community access to computers. During the summer months of July and August, a satellite c@p site has been made available at the Red Fishhouse on the HH wharf. This is very popular with the tourists and local residents.

Membership in the Historical Society is open to anyone in the community as voting members and to non-residents as non-voting members. At present there is a one time fee of $2.00 for membership.
