Description of the water supply

A section of Halls Harbour is currently serviced by a communal water system, managed by the Halls Harbour Water Co-operative Limited (HHWC), established in 1962. The water system services approximately 50 properties including: permanent residences; seasonal cottages; short-term rentals; the Fundy View Community Center; and the public fishing wharf (operated by the Harbour Authority of Halls Harbour).

Our water system has 2 drilled wells, one on Highway 359, is open year-round, the other located near Cove Rd, is typically open May-November. Each property is connected to the community water system via a network of piping and valve stations throughout the community. If owners need help finding your water line or valve, or guidance on who to call for assistance to open/close it, please contact us.

The HHWC is a “Registered Public Drinking Water Supply” with the province. A local water testing company is contracted to test the water regularly per NS provincial standards.

The HHWC Board of Directors are volunteer shareholders who conduct administration, operation, and maintenance of the system. The Board meets regularly and holds an Annual General Meeting every year to discuss operations, administration and financial matters with the membership.
